Our K9 Training Facility recreates real-life detection scenarios
Southern Hills Kennels is set on 12 acres of beautiful Florida land, not far from Daytona Beach. A pleasant location enjoyed by our customers who come from all over the United States.
Good K9 training includes preparing trainee K9 teams for what they will encounter when they go to work for real.
Two training buildings offer more than 8,000 square feet of space. They are set up with 14 rooms, individually styled to recreate real-life scenarios for the K9 teams, which includes the use of real odors for drug, bomb and cell phone canine detection.
These areas offer different floorings like vinyl, wood, tile and carpet which help the dogs learn to work on different surfaces.
There is also an agility course, and an area designated for vehicular searches.
Vital off-site K9 training is available at locations nearby: an enormous 100,000 square foot warehouse, and an auto auction site with access to more than 10,000 vehicles.
To ensure the safety and health of each dog during their K9 training classes, an on-site veterinarian technician is always available. Southern Hills management also schedules weekly veterinarian visits.
